An accident at a Houston construction site killed a homeless man near the intersection of South Lockwood Drive and Harrisburg Boulevard according to police.

The accident occurred at 5 a.m. Friday according to the Houston Police Department when construction crews were backing a tractor off of a trailer. The tractor ran over the unidentified man in his 50′s who was on the property without permission.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, out of 4,206 worker fatalities in private industry in calendar year 2010, 774 or 18.7 percent were in construction. The leading causes of worker deaths on construction sites were falls, followed by electrocution, struck by object, and caught-in/between. These “Fatal Four” were responsible for nearly three out of five (56 percent) construction worker deaths in 2010.
