Coryell County, Texas — August 24, 2013

A resident of Gatesville was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a Saturday accident on Texas State Route 36 according to state police.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that 42-year-old Alisa Prueitt was southbound on Texas 36 near Moccasin Bend Road when she drifted off the road. Police said that she over-corrected and hit a car driven by 37-year-old Samuel Dale Graham of Hamilton.

Mr. Graham died at the scene, while passenger Sharla Kay Graham and their two children were taken to Scott & White Memorial Hospital.

According to a study done by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, one in 10 drivers reported having driven when they thought that their alcohol level might have been close to or possibly over the legal limit within the past 12 months, and just over half of those (5.5 percent of all drivers) reported having done this more than once within the past 12 months.
