An accident between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Robinson killed a woman according to police on tuesday.

The Robinson Police Department stated that 56-year-old Robinson resident Jeanne Trowbridge was on a motorcycle stopped at Peplow Drive and Robinson Drive when a pickup driven by an unidentified man failed to stop. The truck hit Ms. Trowbridge from behind at 9:30 p.m. Monday and she became pinned under the truck.

Ms. Trowbridge was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she died early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcycles are more likely to be involved in a fatal collision with a fixed object than are other vehicles. In 2008, 25 percent of the motorcycles involved in fatal crashes collided with fixed objects, compared to 19 percent for passenger cars, 14 percent for light trucks, and 4 percent for large trucks.
