A young mother was killed in a hit-and-run crash Sunday according to police.

Charayla McMillan, 21, of Crowley was a passenger in a four-door sedan that had pulled to the side of the Service Road of Interstate 35W south of Everman Parkway at 12:15 a.m. Sunday. The Fort Worth Police Department stated that the sedan was rear-ended by a black pickup truck.

The truck was described as a work truck with large tires and a toolbox mounted on the bed. Ms. McMillan suffered a broken neck and died at the scene. It is not known if there were any other injuries.

In the United States on average four people die a day as a result of hit-and-run collisions according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
