La Porte, Texas — February 9, 2013

A Saturday explosion at an industrial gas facility killed one person according to officials.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office that the explosion took place at 8 a.m. at the Air Liquide facility on Fairmont Parkway near Bay Area Boulevard. The body of an employee was found Saturday afternoon and a fire had to be contained as well.

A second unidentified employee was airlifted to University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston with undisclosed injuries.
