Harris County, Texas — February 28, 2011
Police say a teenage bicyclist was struck by a cer and seriously injured along Beaumont Highway north of Crosby Estates on Monday.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Department reports that 18-year-old Miguel Angel Rodriguez was crossing eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 90 (Beaumont Highway), from south to north, around 8 p.m. He had just reached the westbound lanes when he crossed into the path of a 2001 Ford Taurus Sedan and was hit.
Paramedics transported Mr. Rodriguez by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The unidentified driver of the Taurus told investigators he was unable to avoid the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE: Mr. Rodriguez was pronounced dead on March 1 from injuries suffered in the crash.
