Garvin County, Oklahoma — March 10, 2014

An accident on Oklahoma State Route 19 approximately two miles north and east of Pauls Valley killed a man according to state police.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that Stanley R. Vick, 52, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer just before 7 a.m. when he left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle hit a fence and rolled, ejecting Mr. Vick because he was not wearing a seat belt.

Mr. Vick was thrown 30 feet from the vehicle and died at the scene.

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, even though only one of every forty vehicles involved in a police reported crash in recent years has rolled over, one of every three passenger vehicle occupant deaths occur in rollovers.
