A police chase in Lawton on Tuesday ended in a crash on Rogers Lane when black pickup hit another vehicle according to officials.

The black pickup was eastbound on Rogers Lane and was being chased by the Lawton Police Department when the driver lost control and hit an SUV. The truck then went off the road and hit a guardrail before coming to a stop.

Police did not say why the vehicle was fleeing, but confirmed that children were in the SUV that was hit. It is not known if there were any injuries.

The nonprofit organization PursuitSAFETY states that a collision is the end result of about 40 percent of all vehicular police pursuits.

UPDATE: Officials identified the suspect as Martina Sewell, who was driving an allegedly stolen pickup int he accident.
