An accident in the westbound lanes of the Will Rogers Turnpike on Saturday killed 62-year-old Owasso resident Jeanine Barrett. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated that Ms. Owasso’s vehicle crashed into a stalled vehicle that had been involved in a separate crash in front of her.

Ms. Barrett was wearing a seat belt, but she died at a hospital in Pryor. The accident occurred approximately six miles west of Adair.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 68 percent of motor vehicle fatalities in 2010 were passenger vehicle occupants, 13 percent were pedestrians, 13 percent were motorcyclists, 2 percent were bicyclists, and 1 percent were occupants of large trucks.
