Lake Township, Ohio – July 1, 2011

The Ohio State Highway Patrol states that a small aircraft crashed Friday night in Wood County. They have not confirmed whether or not anyone was hurt in the incident.

According to reports, the wreck involved an ultralight, which is a light-weight airplane that flies at low speeds and is not subject to as many regulations as other, larger aircraft.

The time was about 7:30 p.m. when the ultralight reportedly lost power after takeoff from the Toledo Executive Airport in Lake Township. Upon returning to the ground, it collided with a fence at a construction site. It also struck a pile of gravel before coming to rest in a barn.

It is not known how many people were riding in the ultralight at the time, and officials could not state if anyone was hurt in the incident.
