Mentor, Ohio – June 11, 2011

The Mentor Police Department has not reported whether or not injuries were sustained in a head-on crash Saturday afternoon.

The wreck happened around 3 p.m. and involved two vehicles. They were apparently traveling in opposite directions on Heisley Road when unknown factors caused them to collide head-on near the address of 6752 Heisley Road. Authorities report that this location is in between Jackson Street and Mentor Avenue.

Responding crews were forced to shut down Heisley Road while they went about clearing the scene. No indication was given on if anyone was hurt, and the investigation by police is presumably ongoing at this time.

According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.
