Newark, Ohio — April 7, 2011
A 27-year-old man did not comply with an officer’s attempt to stop his vehicle Thursday night. Philip Young’s efforts to evade police led to a crash that injured two people, according to reports.
The suspect, Mr. Young, reportedly bore some connection to a drug case, and fled police when they approached his vehicle on King Avenue. The ensuing chase only lasted a matter of a few minutes, but culminated in Mr. Young crashing into a car carrying a husband and wife.
The woman received treatment at Licking Memorial Hospital. The man was said to have minor injuries, as well.
Though Mr. Young continued his escape attempt on foot following the crash at Log Pond Drive and North 21st Street, he was soon apprehended by authorities through use of a taser. The investigation continues.
