Liberty Township, Ohio — March 21, 2011

A two-vehicle wreck left three with injuries Monday afternoon. Police report that it happened on Cincinnati-Dayton Road around 4:30 p.m., following one driver’s alleged disregard for a red light.

An 86-year-old resident of Hamilton—Burt Roach—was driving a Buick Century south on Cincinnati-Dayton Road. Also in the vehicle was one passenger—70-year-old Dortha Bell. Authorities state that Mr. Roach ran a red light as he entered the intersection at Yankee Road, where his Buick collided with a Ford Explorer.

The driver of the SUV has been identified as 40-year-old Melissa Denning, who required extrication from her vehicle after the impact caused it to roll.

Ms. Denning’s son Jacob, 14, was also in the vehicle, but avoided injury. Both Mr. Roach and Ms. Bell were treated at Atrium Medical Center, and their injuries were not believed to be critical. Ms. Denning was transported to West Chester Hospital, and there is no word on her present condition.

Reports show that Mr. Roach was cited for his involvement in the accident.
