LaGrange, North Carolina – March 2, 2012

A multiple-vehicle collision that caused a rollover in Lenoir County left two people injured early Friday morning.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a vehicle had broken down on U.S. Route 70 when a second vehicle smashed into the vehicle on the foggy road about 1 a.m. The impact caused the disabled vehicle to overturn multiple times before it was struck by a third vehicle near Foss Farm Road.

Two people involved in the collision were flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for medical attention to unknown injuries.

In 2009, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, reports that 448,000 people were hurt in distracted-driving crashes in the U.S. and 5,474, were killed.
