Sheridan, New York — May 14, 2012
The New York State Police have confirmed the death of Michael Case, 38 in a motorcycle accident on New York State Route 5 in Chautauqua County. Officials say Mr. Case lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guard rail before rolling down an embankment.
Mr. Case was declared dead at the scene, and speed was believed to be a factor. It is not known if Mr. Case was wearing a helmet or if any other vehicles were involved. The crash happened at 10 p.m. Monday.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration4,778 people were killed in collisions involving motorcycles in 2006.
