Logan, New Mexico — May 27, 2012
Shaina Pool, 22, suffered life threatening injuries on Sunday in a boating accident on Ute Lake near Logan. The New Mexico State Police stated that Ms. Pool was a passenger in a boat filled with friends that was headed into shore.
The boat turned sharply and Ms. Pool fell into the lake before getting hit by the boat. Her injuries were not disclosed, but she is in an Amarillo hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
According to the Boating Safety Resource Center, open motorboats were the No. 1 vessel type for boating casualties with 325 total deaths and 1969 total casualties in 2010.
Update: Brittany Holt, Jonathon Maes, Logan Denton, all 21, Tre Orozco, Kendra Gibbons, both 18, and Spencer Norris, 20, have all been charged with various counts due to their roles int his accident.
