Police say a motorcyclist was airlifted after a crash in the Stewart area, south of Carson City, on Saturday morning.

The East Fork Fire Department reports that the unidentified biker was riding along U.S. Route 395 around 10:30 a.m. As the victim approached Topsy Lane, near Fuji Park, the motorcycle crashed into the center barrier for unknown reasons.

Paramedics airlifted the motorcyclist to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment. The nature and extent of injuries has not yet been reported.

It remains unclear whether any other vehicles were involved in the crash. Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol have assumed control of the investigation.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports that mmotorcycles were involved in 17 percent of all injury-related rollover accidents, and large trucks were involved in 13 percent.
