Springfield, Missouri — August 17, 2012

Friday, at about 11:45 p.m., a crash that injured two people took place on Farm Road 102, on the north side of Springfield.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials say that Earl D. Riggs, 34, from Brookline Station, was driving west on a 1995 Santo motorcycle when the crash occurred. Police say, for unknown reasons, Mr. Riggs traveled off of the roadway.

His motorcycle crashed into a nearby creek. Mr. Riggs and his passenger, Rachael M. Conrad, 30, from Springfield, were injured. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are not known.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study has found driver error to be the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
