Springfield, Missouri – July 20, 2012

Friday, just before 1 a.m., a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident, not even a quarter of a mile from the Greene County Jail located on Boonville Avenue.

Springfield Police Department officials say that Christina Rumple, 55, had been in jail for around four hours before her release on suspicion of drunk driving and her involvement in an earlier crash. After her release, she was walking away from the Greene County Jail building when she was struck and killed.

Police believe two men in a pickup truck were responsible for the death, but have not made any other information available.
