Two people were seriously injured in a Saturday night motorcycle crash on Missouri Route C.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 9:25 p.m., three miles east of Phillipsburg, when the westbound Harley-Davidson driven by 48-year-old Burlington, Iowa resident Danny L. Moyers hit a deer, ejecting the vehicle’s two occupants.

Mr. Moyers and a 46-year-old passenger, Eldon resident Lori J. Flaugher, were reportedly taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.

Smartmotorist.com reports there are approximately 500,000 deer-vehicle collisions each year, resulting in more than 100 deaths and thousands of injuries.
