Greene County, Missouri — June 24, 2012
Three Springfield resident were injured early Sunday morning when the car in which they were riding hit a sign, house and parked car a mile west of Springfield.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 12:30 a.m. on El Castille Street when the westbound Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 30-year-old Lance J. Clark, also of Springfield, went off the road on a curve and proceeded to collide with the three objects.
Three passengers in the car – Michelle A. Clark, 30, Latoya S. Manley, 31, and Joshua E. Williams, 31 – all reportedly suffered minor injuries. Ms. Clark was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield while Mr. Williams and Ms. Manley were sent to Cox South Hospital, the report says.
No one was in the parked Honda Accord at the time of the accident.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were more than 17,500 fatal single-vehicle accidents in the U.S. in 2007, and since 1991 vehicles are leaving the roadway in a higher percentage of single-vehicle crashes.
