New Cambria, Missouri — May 25, 2012

An Arbela man died Friday following an accident that occurred while he was working with a timber company.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office reports 39-year-old Michael Brown died at Samaritan Hospital following the accident, which occurred a few hours earlier in Macon County. Deputies say Mr. Brown was working with Tri-State Timber Company and was struck in the head by a falling tree limb.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 4,547 fatal work injuries were recorded in the United States in 2010.
