A sanitation worker was killed Tuesday morning when he was crushed by a garbage truck in Staley Meadows.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, Brandon Ford was part of a three-person group collecting garbage in the subdivision for Jim’s Disposal Service when the truck drove over him in reverse after he lost his grip and fell from the left rear of the truck. The accident reportedly occurred on Northeast 107th Street.
According to the Missouri Department of Labor, 148 fatal occupational accidents occurred in 2008. That numbers was down from 156 in 2007 and 167 in 2006.
