Buchanan County, Missouri — May 14, 2012

A 72-year-old man was injured in a collision with a young woman from Stewartsville Monday morning.

Thomas E. Farrell of Gower suffered moderate injuries in the 8:25 a.m. crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 169 and Missouri Route 31, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Troopers say Mr. Farrell was westbound on U.S. 169 when 22-year-old Briana A. Menini, heading south, failed to yield and their respective vehicles collided as she turned right. Mr. Farrell’s Chevrolet overturned and came to rest on its wheels, according to the report.

He was reportedly sent to Heartland Regional Hospital for treatment. Ms. Menini was not listed as injured in the report.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study has found driver error to be the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
