A child from Barnhart was injured Sunday morning when his non-motorized scooter was hit by a pickup, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Dale L. Bolt suffered minor injuries when his northbound scooter was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado, which was attempting to pass the scooter as it made a left turn, the patrol says. The crash occurred at the intersection of Seals Drive and Metropolitan Boulevard at 10:30 a.m.

Dale was sent to St. Anthony’s Hospital with minor injuries, according to the report. The driver of the pickup, 70-year-old James D. Faries of Pevely was uninjured.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports a total of 59 persons were killed and 1,352 were injured in traffic crashes involving a pedestrian in 2010.
