Jefferson County, Missouri — February 8, 2012
According to police, an Imperial woman was injured in a crash in Jefferson County on Wednesday.
Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol report that 40-year-old Imperial resident Michelle L. Wertenberger was driving a 2008 Ford Edge north on Missouri Route 141 around 2 p.m. Investigators say Ms. Wertenberger approached the intersection with Missouri Route 21, where she observed a 1994 GMC Jimmy sport-utility vehicle run a red light.
Ms. Wertenberger was unable to avoid a collision with the SUV, operated by an unidentified male. Paramedics transported Ms. Wertenberger to St. Anthony’s Medical Center for treatment.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 37,786 traffic accidents in 2009 resulted in death or personal injury.
