Joplin, Missouri – November 4, 2011

A Springfield man was injured and a Quapaw, Oklahoma, man was killed Friday morning in a rollover accident on Interstate 44.

According to the Joplin Police Department, 31-year-old Quapaw, Oklahoma, resident Amory S. Cook drove west on Interstate 44. Near a rest stop the vehicle went off the road and rolled. It struck a median about 9:45 a.m.

Mr. Cook was declared dead at the scene. Springfield resident 29-year-old Brandon L. Caton, his passenger, is in critical condition at Freeman West Hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, drivers over 55 were involved in 10,457 personal injury accidents in 2009. A total of 15,616 people were injured in those crashes.
