Boone County, Missouri – October 26, 2011

Two men were injured Wednesday night in a collision at a Boone County intersection.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Danny L. Plunket, 34, of Odessa drove a 2007 Pontiac G6 west on East Brown School Road. At the intersection with Missouri Route 763 he did not yield to traffic. He pulled in the path of Riley J. Phillips, 28, of Columbia in a 2008 Ford F-250. The Ford crashed into the Pontiac about 10:25 p.m.

Mr. Plunket suffered moderate injuries. He was taken to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for medical attention. Randall D. Wilson, 41, of Oak Grove was in the vehicle with Mr. Plunket. He also suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the same hospital. No injuries were reported for Mr. Phillips.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
