Osage County, Missouri – July 28, 2011

A driver over-corrected Thursday afternoon causing a crash that injured both the driver and his passenger.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 37-year-old Linn resident Terry R. Cramer drove a 2002 Ford west on Missouri Route N. Just east of County Road 275 he did not properly navigate a curve. The vehicle went off the right side of the road, and Mr. Cramer over-corrected. The vehicle then strayed into the eastbound lane and went off the left side of the road. The vehicle flipped and hit a ditch and a pole about 4:45 p.m.

Mr. Cramer suffered minor injuries. Eugene R. Meisel, 17, of Linn was with Mr. Cramer and suffered moderate injuries. Both the driver and the passenger were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for medical attention.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
