St. Francois County, Missouri – July 27, 2011
A golf cart and an all-terrain vehicle collided head-on Wednesday night injuring one driver.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, Matthew O. Anthony, 37, of St. Louis drove a 2005 EZ Go golf cart south on Pawnee Drive. Danny P. Gant, 31, of French Village drove a 2005 Honda TRX450 north on Pawnee Drive. About 8:15 p.m. at Jamie Lane the two vehicles collided head-on.
Mr. Gant, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his vehicle. The vehicle then went off the left side of the road and crashed into a fence.
Mr. Gant suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
According to atvsafety.gov there were approximately 131,900 ATV-related injuries treated in emergency rooms in 2009. There were 376 reported deaths caused by ATV accidents in 2009
