Caldwell County, Missouri – July 26, 2011
A dump truck did not yield to a vehicle on Northwest Osage Drive leaving two drivers injured Tuesday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, 53-year-old Hamilton resident Peggy S. Baker drove a 2009 Ford east on Northwest Osage Drive. At the intersection with Willis Drive a 1988 GMC dump truck driven by 36-year-old Cameron resident Thomas J. Eddins did not yield to Ms. Baker.
He pulled into the intersection about 9:45 a.m. and the two collided. The dump truck then ran off the road.
Ms. Baker suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Hospital for medical attention.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that more than 500,000 semis and large commercial vehicles were involved in traffic crashes in 2010. Those accidents resulted in injuries to more than 100,000 people and more than 5,000 deaths.
