An off-road wreck Friday morning sent a woman from Kansas to the hospital.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 64-year-old Mulberry, Kansas, resident Danny J. Rhodes drove a 2009 Honda Accord west on Missouri Route K one mile west on Liberal. About 5:30 a.m. Mr. Rhodes veered off the right side of the road in an attempt to avoid a collision with a vehicle in his lane. He came back to the road, but went off the left side of the road, crashed into a utility pole and a fence.
Susan L. Rhodes, 64, of Mulberry, Kansas, was in the vehicle with Mr. Rhodes. She was taken to Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas, for the treatment of minor injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, drivers over 55 were involved in 10,457 personal injury accidents in 2009. A total of 15,616 people were injured in those crashes.
