Pulaski County, Missouri – July 21, 2011

A man from St. Robert was injured when he changed lanes and crashed with a semi Thursday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Randall L. Hassett drove a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo west on Interstate 44. In St. Robert at mile marker 159 Mr. Hassett changed lanes and about 12;20 p.m. hit the front end of a 2010 Peterbilt semi driven by Brian J. Cannon, 49, of Greenwood, Indiana.

Mr. Randall was transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that more than 500,000 semis and large commercial vehicles were involved in traffic crashes in 2010. Those accidents resulted in injuries to more than 100,000 people and more than 5,000 deaths.
