Washington County, Missouri – July 21, 2011
A young girl and woman were injured when the vehicle they were in left the road and flipped, throwing them from the car Thursday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sterling E. Lawson, 27, of Cadet drove a 2007 Honda Roketa east on Wickett Road. East of Missouri Route E the scooter went off the north edge of the road and flipped. Both Mr. Lawson and his passenger were thrown from the vehicle about 4 p.m.
Mr. Lawson suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Washington County Memorial Hospital for medical attention. Morgan Lawson, 2, of Cadet rode with Mr. Lawson. Morgan was seriously injured and airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.
The exact location of this accident has not been released.
Mr. Lawson and Morgan were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
In Missouri, motorcyclists of all ages are required by law to wear helmets. The provision extends to some motorized scooters, but not bicycles.
