Jefferson County, Missouri – July 20, 2011
A collision at Gravois Road and Meadowlark Lane sent two women to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Paula L. Jennings, 26, of St. Louis drove a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt south on Gravois Road. At the intersection with Meadowlark Lane she attempted to make a left turn. She was hit in the back passenger side of her vehicle by a northbound 1992 Dodge Shadow driven by 20-year-old Pacific resident Sean M. Costello about 5 p.m.
The force of the crash sent the Chevrolet spinning clockwise. It struck a westbound 2004 Dodge Neon on Meadowlark Lane that had stopped at a stop sign. Kortney L. Forister, 19, of Eureka drove the Neon.
Ms. Forister and Ms. Jennings suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center for medical attention.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
