Salem, Missouri – July 19, 2011
Two Volkswagen Beetles collided Tuesday morning injuring two people.
The Salem Police Department reports, Hiawatha K. Myers, 49, of Salem drove a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle south on Missouri Route 72 just north of Missouri Route H. She slowed down to make a right turn about 9:30 a.m. Richard K. Hogan, 53, of Salem in a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle did not slow down and hit the back of Ms. Myers’s vehicle.
Ms. Myers and her passenger Troy Myers, 28, of Salem suffered minor injuries and were taken to Salem Memorial District Hospital for treatment.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
