Webster Groves, Missouri – July 18, 2011
A pickup truck hauling a camping trailer smashed into an overpass support pillar injuring the two occupants of the vehicle Sunday afternoon.
According to the Webster Groves Police Department, a man and a woman traveled west on Interstate 44 in a pickup truck hauling a camping trailer. About 1 p.m. the pickup truck crashed into a cement support pillar for the Edgar Road overpass. The Webster Groves Fire Department cut them from their vehicle.
Both the man and the woman were seriously injured in the collision. One was airlifted and the other taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
