St. Charles County, Missouri – June 25, 2011
Four children were injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision on Missouri Route N.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sarah E. Johnson, 26, of St. Charles ran a red light west on Missouri Route N in a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan.
The Dodge Caravan was struck on the left side by a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 traveling north on Bryan Road.
Theresa J. Hathaway, 52, of Eureka, who was the driver in the Chevrolet, suffered moderate injuries. The four children in Ms. Johnson’s vehicle Alec M. Johnson, 5, Brandon J. Johnson, 3, Ethan K. Johnson, 1, and Peyton E. Johnson, an infant, all suffered moderate injuries, except Ethan who suffered minor injuries. All of the injured were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital West for treatment.
Ms. Johnson was not injured.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
