St. Louis County, Missouri – June 28, 2011

A rear-end collision sent a 20-year-old from St. Louis to SSM DePaul Hospital Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Christopher H. Steele, 29, of Maplewood slowed down his 2004 Chevrolet Venture for a traffic accident ahead of him on Interstate 270.  Behind him a 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by 16-year-old Blake E. Rudolph of Chesterfield did not slow down for the Venture. The Corolla crashed into the back end of the Venture about 3:05 p.m.

Deonta Burgess was a passenger in the Chevrolet Venture and suffered minor injuries. He was transported to SSM DePaul Hospital for treatment.

Neither driver was injured in the collision.

The exact location of this accident has not been released.

The Toyota Corolla sustained moderate damages and was towed from the scene. The Chevrolet Venture sustained minor damages.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that younger drivers were involved in 36,901 reported crashes in 2009.
