Ripley County, Missouri – June 27, 2011
Shawn M. Davis, 37, died when her car went off of Missouri Route P Monday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, just after 12 p.m. Ms. Davis of Gatewood drove a 1998 Chevrolet north on Missouri Route P south of Missouri Route 142 when she went off the roadway and crashed into a tree and a fence. The vehicle then burst into flames.
Ms. Davis was found dead at the scene.
Her passenger, 24-year-old Timothy W. Tarver of Gatewood, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas, for treatment.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study found that driver error was the primary cause of 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
