Lake Odessa, Michigan – July 25, 2010
A head-on collision with a pick-up truck has a 42-year-old motorcyclist dead.
Michigan State Police were dispatched at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday to an area on Brown Road regarding a report of an accident involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck.
Once authorities arrived at the scene, they had determined that Richard Hill, 42, of Lake Odessa, had been riding his bike east on Brown Road when he crossed the center line and struck a pick-up truck headed west. (The pick-up truck driver was identified as Marcia Yoder, 63, of Charlotte.)
Authorities have yet to determine what caused Mr. Hill’s motorcycle to cross the center line; however, they do not believe that alcohol was a factor. Pending toxicology reports were to be made available at a later date.
Michigan State Police did confirm that nearby residents assisted Ms. Yoder and attempted to help Mr. Hill; however, his injuries proved to be too severe.
Ms. Yoder was transported to a local hospital and her condition remained unknown at this time, but she was not believed to have suffered any life-threatening injuries.
