GRAND HAVEN, MI– JULY 6, 2010 – A Tuesday morning accident on Johnson Street in Grand Haven has sent 21-year-old Ruth Boersma, of Spring Lake, and her passenger, 22-year-old Cady Holmes, to North Ottawa Community Hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained.
According to authorities, Ms. Boersma had stopped at the intersection of 168th Avenue while traveling eastbound on Johnson Street, then proceeded into the intersection when her vehicle was hit in the passenger side by a northbound pick-up truck.
The truck was driven by 69-year-old Junior Brower, of Grand Haven. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway, upturning Mr. Boersma’s vehicle, causing it to roll onto its side. Ms. Boersma and Ms. Holmes were pinned inside their car and had to be extracted by rescue personnel before being transported to the hospital.
Mr. Brower was reported to have sustained no injuries in the accident.
At this time, the collision remains under investigation by local law enforcement.
