Two motorists were hospitalized with minor injuries after their vehicle crashed and flipped on South Street in Blue Hill Sunday afternoon.

According to Maine State Police, 20-year-old William Davis of Sedgwick was traveling in his 1987 Volkswagen Cabrio at a high rate of speed around 12:15 p.m. when he lost control in a curve, left the roadway, and flipped the vehicle onto its side. The impact caused Mr. Davis to be thrown from the vehicle.

Mr. Davis and his passenger 20-year-old Brett Gagne also of Sedgwick were treated and released from Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.

The vehicle was totaled in the wreck.

Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 80 percent of all rollovers involve no other vehicle besides the one that rolls over.
