A worker died after being struck by a concrete truck at a manufacturing facility on Portland Street Friday morning.
According to the South Berwick Police Department, an unidentified 55-year-old male worker was on the job when he was struck by a truck while walking down or across the Seacoast Redimix plant driveway located at 541 Portland Street around 10:10 a.m.
The worker died at the scene. No one else was involved.
It is unclear how long the worker had been employed at this facility.
The identities of the worker and the truck driver have not yet been released.
According to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, 4,690 workers were killed on the job in 2010 — more than 90 a week or nearly 13 deaths every day.
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Thomas Palermo of Merrimack, New Hampshire. The truck driver has been identified as 32-year-old James Davis of Newmarket, New Hampshire.
