Lincoln County, Maine – June 16, 2012
A motorist escaped serious injury after crashing her vehicle into a tree off Dover Road Saturday.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Sophia M. Swain-Stark of Boothbay was traveling westbound in her 1993 Chevrolet when she lost control in a curve, left the roadway, and struck a tree.
It is unclear if Ms. Swain-Stark sustained minor injuries in the wreck. No one else was involved in the crash.
Officials are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of this incident.
The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that driver error was the primary cause in 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
