Lincoln County, Maine – June 18, 2012
A motorist escaped serious injury after crashing his vehicle into a ditch off Gardiner Road Monday.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Peter M. Brackett of Jefferson was traveling southbound in his 1991 Jeep Cherokee sport-utility vehicle when he failed to yield at a traffic sign and crashed into a ditch.
It is unclear if Mr. Brackett sustained any minor injuries. No one else was involved in the crash.
Officials are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of this incident.
The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that driver error was the primary cause in 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
