Hancock County, Maine – June 22, 2012
A motorcyclist faces multiple charges after leaving the scene of an accident and leading authorities on a high speed chase down Maine State Route 3 Friday.
According to Maine State Police, 24-year-old Brandon Brown of Franklin crashed his Kawasaki motorcycle into an unidentified vehicle in Bar Harbor and left the scene. Troopers caught up with him on Route 3 where he led them on a high speed chase until he crashed his motorcycle as he attempted to turn onto Maine State Route 204.
Mr. Brown was slightly injured in the crash.
Mr. Brown faces multiple charges including operating under the influence, speeding, and refusing arrest.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2010—one every 51 minutes.
