Androscoggin County, Maine – June 24, 2012
A motorist escaped injury after crashing his pickup truck into a tree off Brown Road Sunday afternoon.
According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Nicholas Barrington was traveling northbound in his 1999 Dodge pickup truck around 4 p.m. when he became distracted for unknown reasons and lost control. Mr. Barrington left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Mr. Barrington was not hurt in the collision. His pickup truck was totaled.
Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.
The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that driver error was the primary cause in 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
