York County, Maine – June 22, 2012
A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a pickup truck on Long Beach Avenue Friday night.
According to the York Police Department, 57-year-old James Januskiewicz was walking across the roadway around 8:35 p.m. near The Oceanside Store when he was struck by the pickup truck driven by 48-year-old David Butler.
Mr. Januskiewicz was transported to York Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mr. Butler was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that a pedestrian dies in a U.S. traffic accident every 110 minutes and one is injured every nine minutes.
