Androscoggin County, Maine – June 21, 2012
One motorist was hospitalized after a three vehicle collision on Maine State Route 196 Thursday.
According to the Lisbon Police Department, 21-year-old Andrea Harris of Wales was traveling eastbound in her 2005 Suzuki sedan around 11:20 a.m. when she failed to yield and rear-ended the 2003 Chevy Tracker driven by 34-year-old Judith Hall of Freeport. 82-year-old Germain Frechette of Lewiston was also unable to yield and rear-ended Ms. Harris.
Ms. Hall was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Mr. Frechette’s passenger, 79-year-old Christine Ducharme, was treated at the scene. Ms. Harris and Mr. Frechette were not injured.
Officers are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.
The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that driver error was the primary cause in 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
